May the hope of the risen Lord Jesus Christ be renewed in this Jubilee Year of 2025!
Pope Francis, in announcing this Jubilee, teaches us that "the Christian life is a journey calling for moments of greater intensity to encourage and sustain hope as the constant companion that guides our steps towards the goal of our encounter with the Lord Jesus."
For a practical way of striving for these moments of greater intensity, he proposes that this year would have a special focus on the ancient custom of pilgrimages.
With this, in southern Manitoba, 16 churches and shrines within the Archdiocese of St. Boniface, the Archdiocese of Winnipeg and the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Winnipeg have been designated as Jubilee sites.
We are honored to announce St. Mary’s Our Lady of La Salette Shrine is one of the sites!
With this, we anticipate to receive visitors throughout the year and in particular at our Annual Pilgrimage on September 20 & 21.
Beyond our own site, we as Catholics, individually and as families, organizations, and parish communities, we are invited and encouraged to visit the other site in 2025.
A listing of the sites along with dates for specific pilgrimages being hosted can be found at: https://archwinnipeg.ca/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/Pilgrims-Guide.pdf
Father in Heaven,
May the faith you have given us in your son, Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of charity enkindle in our hearts by the Holy Spirit, reawaken in us the blessed hope for the coming of your Kingdom.
May your grace transform us into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel. May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos in the sure expectation of a new heaven and a new earth, when, with the powers of Evil vanquished, your glory will shine eternally.
